Normal retina.
The yellow circle is the optic nerve; the red branching lines are blood vessels.

Proliferative diabetic retinopathy
Proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
Arrowhead shows abnormal blood vessels which are growing on the optic nerve.

Non-Proliferative diabetic retinopathy
Very severe non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy.
The gray spots are laser scars.

Retinal detachment
Retinal detachment.
A large retinal tear is present at the top of the photo. Below the tear, the white, billowing retina is detached from the eyewall.

Macular degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration.
The yellow deposits are drusen.

AMD scar
Disciform scar from macular degeneration.
Abnormal blood vessels (choroidal neovascularization) grew under the retina and eventually left this gray scar.

Macular hole
Macular hole.
The red circle in the center is a hole in the macula (central retina).
